The Republican National Convention (RNC) in Milwaukee was filled with racially insensitive rhetoric and actions, according to NewsOne. Republicans apparently mispronounced Vice President Kamala Harris' first name in an attempt to racially fearmonger.
They also showed a video footage from a pro-Palestinian protest that included a white student directing monkey noises at a Black student. Hulk Hogan, who was caught using the N-word in leaked audio, was invited to speak at the convention.
Other people who have openly used racial slurs, such as Kid Rock and Alina Habba, also spoke at the RNC. Republicans also championed the racist "Great Replacement Theory" and mocked the topic of diversity, equity, and inclusion.
The article argues that the RNC demonstrated the party's embrace of bigotry, division, and racism.

This article explores Malcolm X's journey across Africa and the Middle East in 1964, which transformed his outlook and revealed the difficulties of forming transnational solidarity. Malcolm X, a prominent Black nationalist leader, believed that the struggle of African Americans in the United States was connected to the African revolution.
During his tour, he met with preachers, presidents, and anti-colonial activists and aimed to raise awareness of racism in the United States. However, his radical rhetoric sometimes proved controversial in his host countries, and his inexperience with international politics caused complications.
Despite his efforts, Malcolm X's vision of a united front between African and Black American radicals was never realized. This article showcases the rich possibilities for solidarity that existed across the postcolonial world, but also highlights the practical and political limits of such efforts.

In an interview with Fox News, Detroit pastor Lorenzo Sewell, who will be speaking at the Republican National Convention (RNC), discussed why he believes Black voters are shifting towards former President Trump. Sewell emphasized that the shift is real and pointed to Trump's willingness to visit communities that other Republicans would not go to.
He praised Trump's cultural awareness and intelligence as well as his efforts to support Black entrepreneurs and churches through initiatives like the Platinum Plan. Sewell also urged Black voters to do their research and look into the history of Black Republicans, highlighting figures like Frederick Douglass and Thomas Sowell.
He argued that it is the Democrats who engage in identity politics and try to confuse Black Americans about the Republican Party. Overall, Sewell believes that Trump's actions and policies are resonating with Black voters and bringing the Black vote back to the Republican Party.

In a surprising move, Republicans turned to Kimberly Guilfoyle, Don Trump Jr.'s fiancée and a Newsmax commentator, to speak on behalf of black women voters.
During a discussion on how black women might respond if Vice President Kamala Harris were skipped over for a presidential run, Guilfoyle speculated that it would be a "huge problem" with African-American and black women voters. However, Guilfoyle's credibility as a spokesperson for this demographic is questionable, as she has previously made false statements about the jobs market under Donald Trump and misrepresented the history of World War II.
Additionally, she was caught in an embarrassing moment during the Republican National Convention where she was seen aggressively grabbing her crotch on live television.

In this op-ed, Dr. Benjamin F.
Chavis Jr. and Bobby R.
Henry Sr. discuss the resurgence of political violence in America.
They emphasize that while violence in association with politics is not new, what has changed is how it is reported in the mainstream media and on social media channels. The authors argue that the Black Press, as the trusted voice of Black America, has a responsibility to confront and call out violence and hatred.
They assert that racial and political violence go against the principles of freedom, justice, and equality, and stress the importance of nonviolence in a democracy. The authors also criticize the dissemination of disinformation and misinformation, which they believe contributes to polarization in the nation.
They highlight the role of the Black Press in mobilizing Black voters and ensuring a large voter turnout in the upcoming election, stating that democracy, freedom, justice, and equality are all on the ballot.

A new bill introduced in Congress aims to require federal prisons in the U.S.
to disclose environmental factors that could pose health risks to inmates. The Environmental Health in Prisons Act, introduced by Democratic lawmakers Sen.
Edward Markey and Rep. Ayanna Pressley, would create an independent advisory panel that would conduct research on environmental threats in federal prisons, recommend policies to mitigate these threats, and provide reports on the facilities.
The bill's goal is to improve the environmental health outcomes for individuals in prisons, as many facilities are located near Superfund sites with histories of toxic waste and pollutants. If passed, the bill would also make federal carceral agencies, such as the Bureau of Prisons and U.
S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement, disclose information about environmental stressors and exposure in prisons.
The legislation also includes a grant program to gather data on state and local prisons with inadequate conditions. Advocates argue that compiling environmental health data in federal prisons is long overdue and that the bill would address racial disparities in prisons and the treatment of inmates.

Days after an attempted assassination against former President Donald Trump, U.S.
politics are feeling anything but funny. Late-night shows, such as Comedy Central's "The Daily Show," canceled their shows, and the comedy rock duo Tenacious D called off their world tour.
President Joe Biden put a pause on political ads and messaging, urging the nation to "cool" the rhetoric. The question now is when it will be appropriate to return to political comedy.
While political humor has a long history in the United States, there is nothing funny about the recent attempted assassination and the violence that has plagued the country. However, humor can help humanize politicians and make them more relatable.
Ultimately, it will be up to comedians and their audiences to decide when joking about politics is acceptable again.

Former President Donald Trump deviated from his promised message of unity during his speech at the Republican National Convention (RNC). After recounting an assassination attempt at a rally in Pennsylvania, Trump quickly launched into a diatribe about criminal prosecutions against him and accused the Democratic Party of "weaponizing the Justice System.
" Throughout his speech, Trump attacked political opponents, made false claims about Democrats cheating in elections, and referred to COVID-19 as the "China virus." He promised to launch a deportation operation, lower prices, end conflicts in Gaza and Ukraine, and bring back American manufacturing jobs.
Despite his initial plea for unity, Trump's speech resembled his typical freewheeling rally stump speeches.

The NAACP has launched the "All-in" campaign to mobilize 5.1 million voters ahead of the upcoming election.
The campaign was announced at the NAACP's 115th Annual Convention, where President Joe Biden served as the keynote speaker. Biden expressed his commitment to the cause, stating, “I am all in.
” In his speech, Biden outlined his plans for a second term, including passing the John Lewis Voting Rights Act and the Freedom to Vote Act, as well as increasing the minimum wage and tackling racial injustice. The convention also awarded esteemed historian and scholar Henry Louis Gates, Jr.
with the Spingarn Medal, the group's highest honor. The NAACP hopes to recruit 300,000 volunteers for their get-out-the-vote campaign and mobilize five million voters.
According to NAACP President & CEO Derrick Johnson, "This election will be won in inches, not miles.

Vice President Kamala Harris is gaining popularity among Democrats as speculation grows about President Joe Biden's ability to win re-election. Despite Biden's poor performance in debates, Harris has shown strong loyalty to her running mate.
She has defended his record and attacked their opponent, former President Donald Trump. Harris has also been instrumental in advocating for reproductive rights, appealing to black voters, and addressing key issues such as voting rights and immigration reform.
Her supporters argue that her current position as second-in-command could mark a seamless transition if Biden were to pass the baton, and even Republicans have begun incorporating her name into the Trump campaign's messaging. However, Harris has faced criticism for not being progressive enough and for not making enough progress on issues like immigration.
Nevertheless, recent support for Harris has grown, and she is seen as a symbol of aspiration for those who have experienced demographic change in the country.
