Former President Donald Trump has once again made controversial statements, this time suggesting that Jews and Black people vote for Democrats "out of habit." He made the comments during an interview with right-wing radio host Wayne Allyn Root. π¬ Trump previously faced condemnation for claiming that Jewish people who vote for Democrats "hate their religion." During the interview, Trump also discussed his efforts to appeal to Black voters and compared himself to the community, claiming that his own experiences with discrimination resonated with them. π€ Trump's statements have drawn criticism for perpetuating stereotypes and for promoting divisive narratives. π ββοΈ
A new poll conducted by ClearPath Strategies has found that the majority of Black voters in the United States oppose legislation that would ban TikTok. Some key findings from the poll include:
β’ 51% of Black voters oppose a ban on TikTok π‘
β’ 55% of Black voters have a favorable view of TikTok π
β’ 24% of Black voters said they would be less likely to vote for an elected official who supported a TikTok ban π€
β’ 77% of Black voters would prefer Congress to pass a law that requires all social media companies to protect user data π
The memo to TikTok suggests that frustrations from Black voters about a TikTok ban could impact their support for President Biden in the upcoming election π±. The poll also found that 38% of registered voters in the US use TikTok at least once a month, including a majority of Black and Latino voters π.

Taylor Swift has faced backlash from African Americans for lyrics on her new album that express a desire to live in the 1830s. π΅ The song, titled "I Hate It Here," includes lines such as "I'd say the 1830s but without all the racists/And getting married off for the highest bid." π Many have pointed out that slavery was still legal during this time and women did not have the right to vote. Critics argue that the lyrics show a lack of understanding of the historical context and impact of racism in that era. However, some fans have defended Swift, stating that the lyrics are about nostalgia and do not romanticize the 1830s. They argue that the criticism overlooks the rest of the song's message. πΆ

Jeezy, the rapper known for his anthem "My President" during Barack Obama's campaign in 2008, has produced and narrated a new documentary titled "Hip-Hop and the White House." π€ποΈ The film explores the relationship between rap artists and presidential politics, featuring commentary from artists such as Common and KRS-One, as well as politicians like Congresswoman Maxine Waters and Newark Mayor Ras Baraka. π£οΈπ₯ The documentary raises questions about the ability of hip-hop to transform cultural influence into political power. Jeezy hopes that the film will inspire people to look beyond the candidates and focus on the issues. π¬ He also discusses the current state of hip-hop and politics, as well as his thoughts on the upcoming election. The documentary is available now on Hulu. πΊβ¨

π President Joe Biden will deliver the commencement speech at Morehouse College, one of the nation's top historically black colleges and universities (HBCUs), as he seeks to build support among Black voters in the 2024 election. This will mark the second consecutive year that the president has spoken at an HBCU graduation ceremony, after addressing the graduating class at Howard University in 2023. π¨π½βπ Biden's appearance at Morehouse aims to shore up support among Black voters, particularly younger ones, as polls suggest that he and Vice President Kamala Harris have work to do to maintain the levels of support they received from the Black community in 2020. Biden won Georgia by a narrow margin in 2020, and maintaining support among Black voters in the state will be crucial for him in the 2024 election. β

In the highly polarized election environment, Republicans are suing for the right to harass election workers. Recent lawsuits aim to undo protections for election workers, despite the need for bipartisan consensus to protect them. Nevada enacted an Election Worker Protection Law to combat threats faced by election workers, but a failed Republican attorney general candidate has filed a lawsuit to block the law, arguing that it violates her First Amendment rights. Similarly, right-wing organizations in Arizona are suing to block anti-harassment provisions of the state's Election Procedures Manual from going into effect. The provisions include prohibiting threatening, harassing, or intimidating voters or poll workers. The Minnesota Voters Alliance is also challenging a law that prohibits statements intended to impede or prevent another person from exercising the right to vote. ππ« These lawsuits highlight the GOP's priorities and its strategy to make it harder to vote and easier to cheat. It is a desperate campaign without a moral compass. π‘πβ

In an article titled "Political Poverty Pimps," James Clingman discusses the wealth disparity between elected officials and the general population in the United States. He highlights the fact that the average wealth of a U.S. senator is around $12 million, while the average household net worth is only $69,000. Clingman argues that this wealth gap has led to a disconnect between politicians and their constituents, as elected officials prioritize their own financial gains over the needs of the people they represent. He suggests that voters should be more practical and less emotionally driven when choosing their elected officials, and should hold them accountable for their actions and promises. Clingman also emphasizes the importance of economic and political empowerment for Black voters and the entire U.S. electorate. Overall, the article sheds light on the issue of political pimps who profit off the system while the average citizen suffers. π΅π³οΈβπΏ

A federal judge has struck down North Carolina's law criminalizing felon voting, stating that it was enacted with discriminatory intent and continues to disproportionately impact Black voters. The ruling does not impact a separate law that allows felons to regain voting rights after completing their full sentences. The judge's decision is based on the argument that the law was originally enacted in 1877 to exclude Black people from voting and has not been cleansed of its discriminatory nature. The judge also highlighted the potential for arbitrary enforcement under the law. The impact of this ruling on the 2024 elections in North Carolina remains unclear. The plaintiffs in the case argued that the felon voting law forced them to spend time and money advising felons about their rights. ππ₯
This ruling follows a previous challenge to the state's felon voting restrictions that was rejected by the North Carolina Supreme Court in 2023. βοΈβπ³οΈ

In a recent appearance on Fox News, ποΈStephen A. Smith discussed why an increasing number of black Americans support former President Donald Trump. Smith explained that when Trump talks about his ongoing legal troubles, some black voters relate to the persecution he describes. Smith's objective acknowledgement of this connection sparked outrage from critics who claim he is betraying the black community. The National Association for the Advancement of Colored People (NAACP) criticized Smith's comments on Twitter, and other figures like Bishop Talbert Swan and Roland Martin denounced him as well. However, Smith clarified that he was not suggesting that all black voters relate to Trump, but rather that some do. Recent polling supports Smith's observations, as support for Trump among black voters has risen to 23% from 4% in the past four years. Smith's analysis challenges the mainstream liberal message that Trump is at odds with the black community. Ultimately, Smith's commentary and the backlash it received highlight the need to recognize that black people can think for themselves and have a range of political perspectives. πβ

This article discusses the issue of anti-Black racism and how it is not a homogenous experience for all Black individuals. Some highlights from the article include:
β’ π Anti-Black racism is rooted in the historical experiences of people of African descent and continues to harm Black communities.
β’ π«π€ The murder of George Floyd was a result of anti-Black racism and stereotypical notions of Black masculinity.
β’ π©π½βπ€βπ¨πΎ Black men and women do not experience the same forms of anti-Black racism, with Black women facing unique racial and gender-based oppressions.
β’ π¨π¦ Canada, as a settler-colonial nation, rests on a foundation of white settler-colonial ideology, which erases authentic diversity and maintains social inequalities for racialized people.
β’ π The acronym "BIPOC" (Black, Indigenous, and People of Color) homogenizes and erases the unique experiences of racialized communities.
β’ π€ Solidarity among racialized people requires recognition and acceptance of their individuality and unique experiences.
Overall, the article emphasizes the importance of recognizing and addressing the intersectionality of anti-Black racism and promoting understanding and solidarity among racialized communities.

π¨ If You're Considering Voting for RFK Jr., Think Again π³οΈπ
Conservatives should reconsider voting for Robert F. Kennedy Jr. because of his radical leftist views and his opposition to voter ID requirements. Kennedy has called voter ID laws "racially rancid" and insists that voter fraud is "non-existent." π
ββοΈπΌ
ππ The latest revelation shows that Kennedy has a history of opposing voter ID requirements, perpetuating false narratives about voter fraud, and comparing voter ID laws to Jim Crow laws. π§π«β
This raises concerns about Kennedy's commitment to election integrity and questions his suitability as a conservative candidate. How could anyone claiming to be a conservative support him? π€β
Highlights:
πΉ Kennedy opposes voter ID requirements, calling them "racially rancid" and claiming that voter fraud is "non-existent." π£οΈπ
πΉ He compares voter ID laws to Jim Crow laws and accuses Republicans of disenfranchising minority voters. π π³οΈπ
ββοΈ
πΉ Kennedy argues that traditional Democratic constituencies often lack driver's licenses or state ID cards, making it difficult for them to comply with voter ID laws. π³π«π
π¨ This is a reminder to conservatives to rethink their support for Robert F. Kennedy Jr. and consider the implications of his policy positions. π§π€π«

π’ Systemic racism and politics are preventing Black expectant mothers from accessing needed healthcare services.
π€°πΎββοΈπ« The critical care that expectant mothers require remains unavailable for many, particularly for Black mothers and their unborn babies.
π The impact of systemic racism in healthcare for the Black community is alarming.
β οΈ Black pregnant women are three times more likely to die from pregnancy-related causes than white women.
π± Complications and deaths among Black mothers and babies are unfortunately commonplace in a healthcare system that claims to be among the best in the world.
π The United States is the only industrialized country where the maternal mortality rate is increasing.
π The detrimental effects of systemic racism and politics are evident, raising questions about the disconnect between being pro-life advocates and not ensuring the safety and health of both mother and baby.
π§ Lawmakers in several Midwestern states are working to pass the Black Maternal Momnibus Act, a package of 13 measures aimed at addressing the issue holistically.
π Long-term and meaningful changes are needed to improve the access and quality of prenatal and postnatal healthcare for Black pregnant women.
π The prevalence of systemic racism and partisan politics continues to impact Black maternal healthcare, calling for serious consideration and action.
