Donald Trump is reportedly seeking the help of rappers to gain more support from Black and Latin voters for his presidential campaign ๐ต๐คThe former president is said to be planning a campaign fundraising event at Madison Square Garden in New York City, with the intention of having rappers and athletes in attendance to encourage these voters to vote for him and the Republican party in November. Trump's campaign for a second term is controversial, but he has gained support from some rappers, including Kanye West, Lil Wayne, and Ice Cube, who have worked with his administration on developing The Platinum Plan to increase wealth in Black communities ๐ฐ๐ข๐ฅ Despite facing criminal charges, Trump is determined to win re-election and is looking to engage with Black communities to secure their support.

Vice President Kamala Harris ๐ has launched a tour in Atlanta to rally support from Black and young voters ahead of the November election. Harris is hoping to mobilize these key voting demographics and focus on economic opportunity as a means of garnering their support.
The tour comes as part of an effort to engage and energize the Black community and encourage voter turnout โ. By targeting this influential voting bloc, Harris aims to ensure that their voices are heard and that their needs are addressed by policymakers ๐ฅ.
The tour is part of a broader strategy to secure support from diverse communities and to build a broad-based coalition for the upcoming election ๐.

Ahead of the upcoming elections โจ, there has been an increase in Democratic voters moving to Georgia ๐. According to an analysis of voter registration data, Georgia gained about 13,500 more likely Democratic voters than Republican voters since the last presidential election.
This trend reflects a national pattern of people leaving more Democratic-leaning states due to high costs of living ๐ธ. These new voters, who were previously registered in other states, are likely to vote in the upcoming election, giving Democrats a small advantage ๐.
In the 2020 election, President Joe Biden won Georgia by a narrow margin, highlighting how a small change in the mix of voters could swing this year's election either way โ๏ธ. Over the past three years, around 140,000 voters have moved to Georgia, with roughly two-thirds likely to lean Democrat ๐ด.
Florida, California, and New York were the top three states that sent the most voters to Georgia ๐ด, with California and New York voters tending to be more Democratic โ๏ธ.

In an effort to gain support from black voters, Donald Trump is planning to host a campaign rally at Madison Square Garden featuring big stars from the hip-hop community. However, this plan may receive backlash from black leaders, such as Reverend Al Sharpton, who have spoken out against rappers supporting Trump.
๐ฎ Sharpton referenced Trump's history with the Central Park Five case, where five young black and brown men were wrongfully imprisoned for years before being exonerated. Trump never apologized to the men, despite taking out ads calling for the death penalty at the time.
Trump's campaign is currently lacking a cohesive engagement plan for black communities, according to black pastor Darrell Scott. This event at Madison Square Garden is part of Trump's larger strategy for engaging black voters, and he is also planning appearances in Chicago, Detroit, and Atlanta.

A recent survey conducted by Pew Research Center reveals that voters' views of former President Donald Trump and current President Joe Biden vary significantly depending on their religious affiliation. ๐ฅ Most registered voters who identify as White Christians would vote for Trump over Biden if the 2024 presidential election were held today.
This group also believes that Trump was a "great" or "good" president and do not think he broke the law in attempting to change the outcome of the 2020 election. ๐ In contrast, most registered voters who are Black Protestants or religious "nones" would vote for Biden over Trump.
These groups view Trump as a "terrible" president who broke the law in his efforts to overturn the 2020 election results. ๐ก The survey also found that support for Trump among Christians was slightly higher among regular churchgoers compared to non-churchgoers.
๐ Ultimately, these findings demonstrate the deep divisions in the American electorate along religious lines.

๐๏ธ On February 3, 1870, the 15th amendment to the US constitution granted black citizens the right to vote, marking an important milestone in the erosion of racist behavior in the country. However, discriminatory practices persisted in the southern states until the passage of the 1965 Right to Vote Act.
๐๐
After the American Civil War, the Republican-dominated US Congress passed the First Reconstruction Act, dividing the South into military districts and paving the way for a new government based on universal suffrage. With the adoption of the 15th amendment, politically mobilized African-Americans ๐๐พ joined forces with white allies to elect the Republican Party to power in the Southern states, bringing about a radical change.
In 1870, Hiram Rhodes Revels became the first African-American senator in the US Congress.
However, in the late 1870s, Republicans in the South vanished, and discriminatory practices intensified.
It wasn't until the 1965 Right to Vote Act that African-American voters finally gained legal means to challenge voting restrictions. This Act abolished literacy tests ๐ and provided federal oversight of voter registration, ensuring that African Americans could exercise their right to vote.

In the battleground state of Georgia, ๐ฉ Black entrepreneurs are experiencing frustration over high interest rates, which is causing economic anxiety. Kimberly Jolasun, a Black woman and entrepreneur in Atlanta, is facing difficulty securing financing for her company, Villie, due to her untraditional profile in the predominantly white and male-dominated technology industry.
Banks have quoted interest rates as high as 14 percent for business loans, and the interest rate on her credit card debt has tripled, putting a strain on her monthly payments. While Jolasun does not blame President Biden for the borrowing costs, she is considering voting for his Republican opponent in the upcoming election, believing they may be more in tune with the needs of business owners.
๐ Higher borrowing costs are a major concern for Black Americans, who are disproportionately affected by these rates and face barriers in raising funds for their businesses. This issue has the potential to shape the 2024 presidential election, particularly in battleground states like Georgia.

๐ฐ In a surprising turn of events, old writings and a comic book by Robert F. Kennedy Jr.
have resurfaced ahead of the 2024 presidential race. The writings connect voter ID laws to a racially discriminatory scam, a stance that may not align with his current support base.
The comic book, co-authored in 2008 with investigative journalist Greg Palast, was supported by left-wing organizations during Barack Obama's presidency. ๐ฎ In the comic, Kennedy warns voters about voter suppression and claims that voter fraud is non-existent.
He argues that voter ID laws disproportionately affect African Americans and create obstacles for those without government-issued identification. ๐ช๐ณ The resurfacing of these writings raises questions about Kennedy's current stance on voter fraud and voter ID laws.

The Biden campaign is making efforts to appeal to Black voters, with Vice President Kamala Harris leading the charge on outreach. ๐ฉ๐ฝโ๐ผ The administration's focus on economic growth and Harris' leading role on issues such as abortion access and reproductive rights are intended to resonate with Black voters.
๐ The campaign comes as CBS News polling shows a decline in support for the administration among Black voters since 2020. ๐ However, Rep.
Steven Horsford, chairman of the Congressional Black Caucus, expressed confidence in the record of the Biden-Harris administration and the work done by Democrats in Congress. ๐ช He believes that despite the current poll numbers, the American people will choose decency over chaos in the end.
โจ He also highlighted Harris' understanding of the challenges faced by Black Americans and emphasized the importance of reducing costs, making communities safer, and creating more opportunities for all Americans.

The article discusses the experiences of Black Jewish students on college campuses amid the divide over the Gaza crisis. This intersectional identity provides unique insights into an issue that is expected to play a significant role in the upcoming presidential race.
Black Americans often find common cause with Palestinians, citing racial apartheid and oppression at the hands of the Israeli government. In contrast, a majority of Jewish Americans side with Israel in the conflict.
Polls also show that race and age are factors in how Americans view the war in Gaza, with young Black Americans being less likely to support President Joe Biden or Donald Trump because of the war. On college campuses, tensions have escalated, with clashes between students, administrators, and invited speakers.
Despite the challenges, Black Jewish students, like Sara Scherlinder at Spelman College, are working to build bridges and create spaces for dialogue and understanding among diverse communities.
