The Black Voters for Biden-Harris campaign office has been unveiled in Decatur, Georgia, with the goal of aggressively courting and mobilizing African-American voters for the upcoming election. The office is the northern Georgia outpost for the campaign and aims to increase voter turnout among African-Americans. The article notes that 92% of Black voters supported President Joe Biden in 2020, while Donald Trump won 6% of the African-American electorate in 2016. However, Trump has been criticized for his approach to court Black voters, with many viewing his efforts as insincere. During the press conference unveiling the campaign office, speakers emphasized the importance of the Black vote and highlighted the Biden Administration's accomplishments, including funding for Historically Black Colleges and Universities (HBCUs), caps on insulin, and reductions in student loan debt. The campaign hopes to engage millennials and social media users to increase turnout among African-American voters.

Pennsylvania Democrats have launched a statewide component called Black Pennsylvanians for Biden to woo Black voters. Lieutenant Governor Austin Davis and House Speaker Joanna McClinton will be chairing the effort. President Joe Biden has been credited with doing a lot for the Black community, including increasing Black wealth, supporting Black small businesses, and reducing Black unemployment to a historic low. The increased outreach to Black voters comes as Biden's support among this demographic appears to be slipping. A recent poll showed that Biden's approval rating among Black adults has dropped from 94% to 55%. This effort is part of a larger campaign across swing states to secure votes in the upcoming elections. Democratic leaders are concerned about voter apathy and dissonance among Black voters, who have historically been reliable supporters of the party.

The latest polls show that former President Donald Trump and President Joe Biden are virtually tied in the 2024 election, particularly when third-party candidates are included. Independent candidate Robert F. Kennedy Jr. is gaining significant support among independent voters, which could potentially sway the election. However, it remains unclear as to how Trump's recent conviction in New York will impact his standing in the polls. Biden currently leads in two of the polls conducted after the conviction, but the results are within the margin of error. Despite Biden's favorability rating exceeding Trump's for the fifth consecutive week, a Morning Consult survey suggests that Trump would still beat Biden by one point if the election were held today. Trump continues to maintain a lead in the seven crucial swing states that will likely decide the election. Overall, the race remains extremely close, and polls consistently show low voter enthusiasm and relatively low favorability ratings for both candidates.

In this engaging article, author Joseph Pearce reflects on the rise of the politics of hatred in the United States, drawing on his own experiences as a former leader of a white supremacist party in England. Pearce argues that pride, prejudice, and hatred are interconnected, and that they lead to the dehumanization and extermination of the enemy. He highlights the role of education in fostering these negative attitudes and suggests that an education rooted in virtue, self-sacrificial love, and the acknowledgment of God is necessary to counteract them. Pearce shares the response he received from an African American priest friend who refused to demonize those who demonized him, instead choosing to show compassion and outreach. Pearce contrasts this response with the sadistic glee exhibited by the secular media when violent acts are carried out against their perceived enemies. He concludes by emphasizing the destructive power of pride and the need for compassion and love in combatting hatred.

In a recent ruling, judges appointed by former President Donald Trump have struck down a grant program for Black female entrepreneurs run by Fearless Fund, a Black woman-owned venture capitalist firm. The judges found that the program is "likely to violate" section 1981 of the Civil Rights Act of 1866, which prohibits the use of race in making contracts. The American Alliance for Equal Rights, founded by conservative activist Edward Blum, brought the case against Fearless Fund last year. This ruling is seen as a victory for conservative groups that are targeting diversity initiatives across public and private entities.
Highlights from the article:
• Fearless Fund is an Atlanta-based venture capitalist firm that runs the Fearless Strivers Grant Contest for Black female business owners.
• Less than 1% of venture capital funding goes to Black and Hispanic women-owned businesses.
• The ruling against Fearless Fund may not be a harbinger of what's to come, as a federal judge in Ohio recently dismissed a similar lawsuit against an insurance company and a fintech platform for their grant program for Black-owned small businesses.
• Fearless Fund and their legal representatives are exploring all options to fight the ruling and continue advocating for equity.

In this article, the Democratic National Committee criticizes Byron Donalds and Wesley Hunt for attempting to defend Donald Trump's record on Black communities. The DNC accuses Trump of giving handouts to the wealthy and trying to remove healthcare and affordable housing programs, which negatively impacted working-class Black Americans. The article highlights several news sources that discuss Trump's failures, including tax cuts that predominantly benefited white Americans, an increase in uninsured Black Americans during his administration, and cuts to housing programs. Additionally, the article points out that Trump and Republicans have scrapped minority outreach plans and closed community centers across the country. Despite Donalds and Hunt's attempts to spin Trump's record, the DNC argues that it does not change the fact that he failed Black communities.

In an interview posted on TikTok, a former Black Panther leader, David Hilliard, expressed his support for former President Donald Trump. Hilliard referred to Trump as a "friend to African Americans" and praised him for his financial support of the Black Panther organization. Hilliard claimed that he knew Trump as a college student in the 1960s and that Trump "owned all of Harlem". He defended Trump against accusations of racism and fascism, stating that he supported black people. Hilliard also alleged that Trump has been convicted of felony charges, referring to his conviction in the Stormy Daniels hush money case. He argued that Trump is qualified and a decent man who should represent America. The article notes that Trump's campaign has been attempting to reach out to the black community, emphasizing issues of jobs and justice. It also mentions that black support for President Joe Biden has fallen to a record low since the Civil Rights era.

Joe Biden is heading to Georgia and Michigan to address his declining support with Black voters. His support among Black voters is at a historic low for a Democratic incumbent president. Biden will give a commencement address at Atlanta's Morehouse College, a historically Black college, and speak at the NAACP Freedom Fund's dinner in Detroit. A recent poll showed that only 49% of Black voters would vote for Biden, while 14% would vote for Donald Trump. Biden's campaign is investing heavily in Black voter outreach and has launched a $30 million ad campaign targeting Black and Latino voters. In contrast, Trump has also run ads to reach Black voters and has prominent Black surrogates campaigning for him. The recent poll also showed that Biden is underwater against Trump in both Michigan and Georgia.
According to U.S. Rep. Jasmine Crockett, President Joe Biden's student debt relief efforts have disproportionately benefited Black Americans. Crockett mentioned Biden's commencement speech at Morehouse College, a historically Black college, and pointed out that over $137 billion has been forgiven for over 4 million people. However, it's important to note that these numbers represent all borrowers, not just Black Americans. Reports have shown that Black students typically graduate with more student debt than other racial groups. Racial wealth disparity, with Black Americans having significantly lower incomes and wealth than white Americans, contributes to the need for larger student loans and the difficulty in repaying them. Data on the demographics of student loan holders is incomplete, so it's not yet known how many Black Americans have benefited from Biden's initiatives. Experts agree that it's plausible that borrowers of color have benefited disproportionately.

Republican Rep. Byron Donalds sparked controversy with his comments at a Trump campaign event in Philadelphia, where he argued that Black families were stronger during the Jim Crow era. Donalds suggested that the decline of Black family values began when Black voters embraced the Democratic Party after the civil rights movement. Democrats, including House Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries, sharply criticized Donalds for his comments. Donalds later clarified in a video that he never said Black people were better off under Jim Crow laws, but rather that the Democratic policies and welfare state had a negative impact on the Black family structure. The controversy comes as Trump seeks to chip away at Biden's support among Black voters, who heavily lean Democratic.

Donald Trump recently criticized the corrupt and rigged criminal justice system that convicted him, despite his own participation in an infamous case that wrongly convicted five Black and Latino youths. These youths were wrongly convicted 34 years ago in the brutal attack of a white female jogger, and Trump called for their execution in a newspaper ad. Trump's recent comments against the criminal justice system seem contradictory to his previous tough-on-crime stance, and some Black Americans feel irony in his complaints. Trump has tried to appeal to Black and Hispanic communities by adopting the language of criminal justice reform advocates, claiming that prosecutors are out to get him like they have been to many individuals in minority communities. However, many Black Americans remember Trump's previous comments about the Central Park jogger case and view his conviction as a symbolic measure of justice.

President Biden is facing trouble with young voters, particularly voters of color, according to a new poll from the University of Chicago. The poll, conducted from May 10-22, surveyed 2,089 Americans under 40, with equal samples of white, Black, Latino, and Asian American and Pacific Islander individuals. The poll found that only one-third of young Americans said they would back Biden if the election was held at the time the survey was conducted. It also revealed that Biden leads former President Donald Trump by just two points, with 34% of respondents currently supporting a third-party candidate or "someone else." The survey highlights several key points:
• Biden has lost support among Black and Latino young people, with 33% saying they would support him if the election were held today.
• Trump is beating Biden among young Latino voters by a four-point margin.
• Economic concerns, particularly inflation, are the top voting issue for most young Americans.
• Biden's support among young people is weaker in policy areas such as the economy, immigration, and the war in Gaza.
Overall, the survey suggests that Biden's 2020 coalition of young voters is diminished, and he will need to work to regain their support in 2024.
