Democratic U.S.

Senate candidate Debbie Mucarsel-Powell has received endorsements from various Black leaders in Florida as she aims to secure the Democratic nomination to challenge U.S.

Sen. Rick Scott.

The list of endorsements includes state lawmakers such as Tracie Davis and Shevin Jones, as well as House members Bruce Antone, Kevin Chambliss, Ashley Gantt, Angie Nixon, Michele Rayner, Patricia Williams, and Marie Woodson. Other significant figures who have endorsed Mucarsel-Powell include former U.

S. House member Val Demings, Miami-Dade County Commissioner Marleine Bastien, Florida City Mayor Otis Wallace, and former Manatee County School Board member James Golden.

Mucarsel-Powell stressed the importance of uniting for the defeat of Rick Scott and expressed her commitment to addressing disparities in healthcare, housing, education, and employment opportunities for Black and Latino communities.

Former President Donald Trump is making a trip to Michigan to court Black voters and a conservative group that has been linked to white supremacists. Trump is scheduled to host a roundtable at an African American church in downtown Detroit, followed by an appearance at the "People's Convention" of Turning Point Action, a group associated with various extremists.

The trip highlights the efforts of Trump to bring together a diverse coalition of voters in Michigan, an important battleground state in the upcoming presidential election. Biden won Michigan by less than 3 percentage points in 2020, and Trump aims to secure the state by appealing to Black voters and promoting his economic and border security policies.

While Black voters have expressed some disappointment with Biden, Trump still faces challenges in winning their support. Nevertheless, even a small shift in the Black vote could have significant consequences in a close election.

In Georgia, Black farmers are feeling disillusioned with President Biden and are even considering voting for former President Donald J. Trump in the upcoming election.

Despite Biden's promises to address the historical discrimination faced by Black farmers, many have not seen any benefits from his programs. Andrew L.

Smith Sr., a vegetable farmer, expressed frustration that he cannot apply for compensation due to lack of documentation.

The situation reflects a larger challenge for Biden, as Black voters were crucial to his 2020 victory but are now feeling let down. Biden's administration is making efforts to court Black voters, with Agriculture Secretary Tom Vilsack visiting a farm event in Albany, Georgia.

However, many Black farmers remain skeptical and feel that the system was not designed with them in mind.

A majority of Black Americans believe U.S.

institutions are conspiring against them, according to a new study by the Pew Research Center. The study examines the intersection of race and conspiratorial beliefs, highlighting the impact of America’s history of racist policies on Black communities.

The study found that over 8 in 10 Black Americans surveyed agreed with the statement that "Black people are more likely to be incarcerated because prisons want to make money on the backs of Black people" and that institutions such as the criminal justice system and policing are designed to hold Black people back. These beliefs coexist alongside the reality that Black people make up 32% of prisoners, despite comprising just 12% of the overall U.

S. population.

The study also explores why Black adults believe in these narratives and how these beliefs influence the way they view the nation. The Pew study highlights the need to address the deeply rooted racial discrimination that Black Americans experience and the impact it has on their perception of U.

S. institutions.

Actor Jack Black made an appearance at Joe Biden's celebrity-filled fundraiser in Los Angeles, donning a "Dark Brandon" campaign T-shirt to show his support for the president. Black, known for his comedic roles in films such as Kung Fu Panda, wore patriotic overalls and declared his dedication to Biden.

"When democracy is at stake, Jack Black answers the call," he said. The fundraiser, which was hosted by actors George Clooney and Julia Roberts, reportedly raised $30 million for Biden's campaign.

Other performers at the event included Barbra Streisand, Jason Bateman, and Mindy Kaling. Black's enthusiastic endorsement of Biden adds to the wave of celebrity support that the president has received throughout his campaign.

A new poll conducted by USA TODAY/Suffolk University reveals that President Biden's support among Black voters has declined significantly since the 2020 election. In Michigan and Pennsylvania, Biden's support among Black voters has fallen by 20 and 22 percentage points, respectively.

The main reason for this decline is discontent with Biden's performance in the White House, followed by concerns about his age and mental capacity. However, this does not mean that Black voters are flocking to support former President Trump.

While Trump has gained some ground among Black voters, his support remains limited. In addition, the poll shows that Kamala Harris, the first female Black vice president, is viewed slightly less favorably than Biden among Black voters.

Moreover, the poll reveals that approximately 15% of Black voters in Michigan and Pennsylvania are now considering third-party candidates, a significant increase from the 1% who voted for third parties in 2020.

Maryland Governor Wes Moore has pardoned over 175,000 cannabis-related convictions, marking the largest blanket pardon in U.S.

history. The executive order granted clemency to individuals who were convicted in Maryland for carrying small amounts of cannabis or paraphernalia when it was still illegal.

Moore framed his decision as an attempt to right past wrongs in the criminal justice system and to address the racial disparities in the enforcement of drug laws. The pardons will have a significant impact on Baltimore, where nearly one-quarter of the convictions occurred, and where the wounds of the war on drugs are still felt today.

While the pardons won't automatically translate into expungements, lawmakers are working to address this issue. Moore's decision follows a trend of governors and officials across the U.

S. pardoning cannabis convictions, and President Joe Biden's announcement that he will pardon thousands convicted of federal cannabis charges.

Former President Trump recently courted Black voters in Detroit and resurrected President Biden's connection to the 1994 crime bill. During a roundtable discussion at a predominantly Black church, Trump highlighted the rising crime rates in African American communities and criticized Biden's role in authoring the crime bill, which has been blamed for mass incarceration that disproportionately affected the Black community.

Trump referred to Biden as the "king of the 'super predators'" and accused him of walking around talking about the Black vote while supporting policies that harmed the community. Trump's comments come as polling suggests that he is gaining support among Black voters, with his support more than doubling compared to the 2020 election.

However, Biden still holds a strong lead over Trump among Black voters overall. Trump's remarks were met with criticism from the Biden-Harris campaign, who accused him of attempting to court Black voters at the last minute and denied that his outreach would be successful.

In anticipation of their upcoming debate, President Joe Biden has launched a new campaign ad targeting former President Donald Trump's criminal conviction. The ad, which will air in battleground states, portrays Trump as a felon who only cares about himself.

This move comes as Trump seeks to gain support among Black Americans, a traditionally Democratic voting base. Biden's campaign hopes to highlight the contrast between Trump's legal troubles and Biden's character.

The ad specifically references Trump's hush money trial and civil fraud case. Trump's campaign responded by labeling the trial as "election interference" and pointing to polls that show his strength in swing states.

The first debate is set to take place on June 27th, and both candidates are under significant pressure to perform well. Trump's constant ridicule of Biden's mental and physical state may be lowering expectations for the president's performance.

Overall, the campaign is intensifying as both candidates seek to secure crucial swing state votes.

Black voters are not particularly enthusiastic about President Joe Biden but dislike former President Donald Trump even more, according to an exclusive poll conducted by USA Today and Suffolk University. The poll, which surveyed Black voters in the crucial swing states of Pennsylvania and Michigan, revealed that while Biden is still the first or second choice for a majority of respondents, most would not support Trump.

However, the poll also found that Trump's support among Black voters has increased since the 2020 election, with him polling at around 15% in Michigan and 11% in Pennsylvania, compared to single digits in the previous election. Both Biden and Trump are making efforts to court Black voters, with Biden visiting Black-owned businesses and using prominent Black figures like Vice President Kamala Harris, while Trump is targeting issues he believes will appeal to Black voters in his campaign messaging.

Overall, experts believe that both candidates need to aggressively pursue the Black vote and cannot take it for granted in the upcoming election.

USAG Rheinland-Pfalz, a U.S.

Army Garrison in Germany, is joining in the celebration of Juneteenth, which commemorates the end of slavery in the United States. The garrison's observance of this day focuses on celebrating freedom and Black American culture, emphasizing the shared values of equality and unity within the community.

Juneteenth, which became a federal holiday in 2021, has been celebrated within the African American community for years but is still relatively unknown to many Americans. The historical significance of Juneteenth serves as a reminder of the ongoing struggle for justice and equality.

Celebrating this holiday allows for reflection on the progress that has been made and inspiration to continue working towards a more inclusive and equitable society. The commemoration of Juneteenth at USAG Rheinland-Pfalz aims to unify the community and honor the sacrifices made by enslaved individuals while acknowledging the hope and progress of America's promise.

The upcoming presidential election has prompted both President Biden and former President Trump to increase their outreach to Black male voters. While Black voters in general tend to identify as Democrats, there has been concern that Black men are leaving the party after Trump received 12% of their support in the 2020 election.

Some observers suggest that Black men could play a deciding role in the election, and it is crucial to focus on their concerns. While Black voters have a range of issues they care about, experts agree that the economy is a priority.

However, both parties face challenges in mobilizing Black men to vote, as many do not feel that their concerns are being addressed. Trump's team has attempted to connect with Black male voters through pop culture references and highlighting racial disparities in the criminal justice system.

Biden's campaign, on the other hand, emphasizes his achievements in student loan forgiveness, low Black unemployment rates, and criminal justice reforms. Ultimately, the party that successfully addresses the vulnerabilities that Black men face will have their support and the potential to win the election.

Former President Donald Trump held a campaign event in Detroit, targeting black voters and attempting to cast his opponent, President Joe Biden, as anti-black. Trump focused on Biden's role in the Violent Crime Control and Law Enforcement Act of 1994, a bill that experts say contributed to mass incarceration and disproportionately affected black communities.

Trump accused Biden of coining the term "super predators" and urged the audience not to forget Biden's role in championing the bill. Trump's visit to Detroit is part of his campaign's larger effort to chip away at Democrats' traditional support among black voters.

Recent polls have shown an increase in black support for Trump, with 23% of black voters supporting him in battleground states, compared to 8% in 2020. However, critics argue that Trump's record on race and his frequent pro-police rhetoric contradict his attempts to appeal to black voters.
