In a recent interview with MSNBC's Jonathan Capehart, President Biden reaffirmed his commitment to supporting Black Americans. When asked if he felt he had the backs of Black Americans, Biden confidently stated, "I have your back, as much as any president has in American history since Lyndon Johnson.
" He pointed to the increase in Black wealth by 60 percent across the board as evidence of his dedication.
Biden also mentioned his meetings with Black business owners who have received government loans and direct payments, which have helped their businesses thrive.
Additionally, he proudly highlighted the endorsements he received from major political action committees representing Asian American, Black, and Latino voters over the weekend.
This statement from President Biden comes at a time when racial justice and equality are at the forefront of national conversations.
It shows his commitment to addressing the needs and concerns of the Black community and working towards a more equitable future. With his promises and actions, Biden aims to build trust and ensure that Black Americans feel seen, heard, and supported by their government.

Marjorie Taylor Greene, a Republican congresswoman, wore a T-shirt with the message "Say Her Name" to President Joe Biden's State of the Union address. While Greene used the phrase to draw attention to the death of Laken Riley, a nursing student from Georgia, the phrase actually originated with Black racial justice activists.
The phrase "Say Her Name" was popularized in 2015 by civil rights activist Kimberlé Crenshaw following the death of Sandra Bland, a Black woman who died in a Texas jail cell after being arrested during a traffic stop. The rallying cry aims to bring attention to the extrajudicial deaths of Black women at the hands of police and vigilantes.
Crenshaw expressed concern about the appropriation of the phrase by Greene, stating that it undermines civil rights movements and pushes democracy closer to the edge. Other Black women, including Breonna Taylor, have also been the focus of the "Say Her Name" campaign, which seeks to break the silence around police brutality against Black women.
The NAACP has called for Black student-athletes to boycott universities in Florida following the termination of all diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) positions on campus. The University of Florida's decision came after a new state policy prohibited the use of government funds for equity and inclusion programs.
The NAACP argues that Florida's DEI stance is part of a series of anti-Black policies enacted by Republican Governor Ron DeSantis. It claims that these policies pose a direct threat to the advancement and opportunities of young Black people.
The NAACP's letter emphasizes the importance of supporting the rights of Black students in educational environments and advocates for investing in their education. The organization suggests that if institutions cannot provide this support, student-athletes should take their talents elsewhere.
The University of Florida, Florida State University, and the University of South Florida have some of the most prominent football and basketball programs in the country, generating significant revenue.

The New York Daily News recently published an article that attempts to paint Congressman Jamaal Bowman as anti-Semitic and rally Jewish voters against him in the upcoming Democratic primary. The article focuses on the Greenburgh Mural controversy, a divisive issue in the community, and tries to use it against Bowman.
However, the article misinforms readers by omitting important parts of Bowman's statements and misrepresenting his support for including Minister Louis Farrakhan in the mural. It also fails to mention Bowman's efforts to promote African American history and educate the public about racism and white supremacy.
The article's purpose is clear: to polarize and divide the community for the sake of an election. The Daily News and the political operatives behind it should be held accountable for their use of anti-Black tactics and their disregard for the consequences it has on the community.
It is time for an apology from the Daily News or a boycott from the Black community. Congressman Bowman deserves better treatment and support from both the media and the community he serves.

In this commentary article, the author discusses Donald Trump's popularity and rise to power by focusing on what they believe is his secret weapon: stupidity. The author argues that America's national myth of being settled by "good white people" with virtuous behavior shapes the country's culture and has allowed for the distortion and erasure of historical events that challenge this narrative.
They claim that Trump's popularity with a large segment of voters can be attributed to their own stupidity and lack of interest in truth and knowledge. According to the author, Trump's behavior and disregard for the truth are appealing to voters who do not want to face the uncomfortable realities of America's history and their own character flaws.
The article suggests that an uneducated and uninquisitive electorate will continue to support a candidate like Trump who reflects their own qualities. Overall, the article portrays Trump's popularity as a symptom of a broader issue in American culture and highlights the importance of understanding and confronting the nation's history.

Joe Biden and Donald Trump are both aiming to secure their party nominations in Tuesday's primaries. Trump acknowledged Biden as the Democratic nominee but criticized his age, while Biden described Trump as a threat to democracy and joked about his own age. Trump is facing 91 felony counts and questions about relationships with dictators, while Biden faces skepticism about his physical and mental abilities and criticism from progressives regarding Gaza.
In Georgia, local leaders urge Biden to call for a cease-fire in Gaza. Biden is 102 delegates away from becoming the presumptive Democratic nominee, whereas Trump is 137 delegates away from winning the Republican nomination. Notably, Trump's campaign has not planned a big victory party for Tuesday's primaries.
In Washington state, Joe Biden and Donald Trump are the main candidates in the presidential primary. The state is politically divided, with more conservative areas in the east and liberal cities like Seattle in the west. Exit polls showed over 90% of Black women voted for Biden in 2020, indicating strong support among this demographic group.
As we reflect on the challenges facing our community, let us also celebrate our resilience and strength. In the face of adversity, we have always risen above, united by our shared determination to create a better future. Let's continue to stand together, inspired by the courage of those who came before us, and committed to building a world where justice and equality prevail.
