DID YOU KNOWโ€ฆ.!?African Americans make up a disproportionate percentage of the prison population. Despite representing only about 13% of the US population, Black individuals account for approximately 33% of the incarcerated population

Despite a boastful announcement from Texas's Secretary of State that the state had a record 17.9 million registered voters, the voter turnout in the 2024 primaries was abysmal. Only 3.2 million, or about 18% of registered voters, actually participated. This meant that almost a million fewer people voted in the primary compared to the 2020 election. ๐Ÿ˜” The decline in voter participation was particularly notable among Democrats, with only 975,000 ballots cast compared to 2.3 million by Republicans. This lack of voter participation is not unique to Texas, as primary turnout is generally lower than general and midterm elections. In fact, only 21.3% of eligible voters participated in the 2022 primaries nationwide. ๐Ÿ˜ฎ In Dallas, voter turnout was similarly low, with only 16.2% of registered voters participating. It is important for voters to engage in the primary elections because they determine not only presidential nominees but also candidates for roles that directly impact their everyday lives. ๐Ÿ‘ฅโœ๐Ÿ—ณ๏ธ๐Ÿ›๏ธ

Rapper Diddy, also known as Sean Combs, has warned Joe Biden that African American votes will not be "free." ๐Ÿ‘€ In an interview on Naomi Campbell's No Filter With Naomi YouTube series, Diddy stated that African Americans need to see promises and understand what they will receive in return for their votes. He also emphasized that nothing has changed for black America, and that the Democratic Party cannot take African American votes for granted. Diddy stated that he would "hold the vote hostage" if necessary and expressed support for reparations for slavery. ๐Ÿ’ช๐Ÿพ๐Ÿ—ณ๏ธ

The organization 100 Black Men of America, Inc. has launched its "Real Men Vote" campaign and national tour, aimed at rallying black men around the importance of voting. ๐ŸŽ‰
The campaign will focus on delivering voter education and engagement, particularly ahead of the 2024 Presidential election. ๐Ÿ—ณ๏ธ
The tour will include 14 cities, beginning in Cleveland, Ohio on April 1st. ๐ŸšŒ
It aims to combat misinformation and voter dissuasion campaigns by equipping black men with accurate information about issues and policies at the federal, state, and local levels. ๐Ÿ’ช
The campaign will feature town halls co-hosted by the Coalition of 100 Black Women and the 100 Black Men of America, Inc. in several cities, and will collaborate with other organizations such as the Collective Education Fund and Black Voters Matter. ๐Ÿค๐Ÿ’ผ

Former President Donald Trump is urging Republicans in Michigan to target Black voters in Detroit and other predominantly African American areas in the swing state. ๐Ÿ—ณ๏ธ๐Ÿ’ผ

Trump met with Michigan GOP leaders, including the state party's new chair, to strategize the Trump campaign's approach to winning the state in 2024. ๐Ÿค๐Ÿ—บ๏ธ

The discussion focused on southeast Michigan, an area with large groups of minority voters who have been critical of President Joe Biden's handling of the Israel-Hamas war. ๐Ÿ’ฌ๐Ÿค”

Trump believes that by focusing on key issues important to Black voters, Republicans can win their support and secure victories in the swing state. ๐Ÿ‘ฅโœ…

A lawsuit claims that a scholarship offered to Black students at North Central University violates federal civil rights law. The George Floyd scholarship, which was created to invest in young Black Americans, is only open to students who are "Black or African American." ๐ŸŽ“๐Ÿค”

The legal complaint argues that this is a violation of the Civil Rights Act of 1964, which prohibits racial discrimination in education. ๐Ÿ˜ฎ๐Ÿšซ The Equal Protection Project of the Legal Insurrection Foundation filed the complaint with the Department of Education's Office of Civil Rights. The watchdog group also claims that the scholarship violates Minnesota's Human Rights Act. ๐Ÿ›ก๏ธ๐Ÿง

The Supreme Court's decision to reverse affirmative action in college admissions further supports the argument against the scholarship. The lawsuit calls for the university to come up with a remedial plan to compensate students who were excluded from the scholarship due to discrimination. ๐Ÿ’”๐Ÿ’ต

A new poll shows that almost a quarter of Black voters would vote for Trump in the 2024 election, predominantly driven by Black men. This potential swing represents a significant challenge for the Biden campaign, which already struggles to keep the support of this key demographic. Black men now lean more conservative than Black women, allowing Republicans to chip away at the Democratic base. The shift can be attributed to a number of factors, including dissatisfaction with Biden's failure to deliver on major promises such as police reform and voting rights. Additionally, Black men have been drawn to Trump's persona and his portrayal as a hustler and businessman. The Democrats, however, do not seem adequately prepared to counter this trend and have not developed clear strategies to address disinformation campaigns aimed at Black voters. The Biden campaign is relying on high-profile surrogates and increased outreach efforts, but it remains to be seen if these efforts will be effective. ๐Ÿ’ช๐Ÿ—ณ๏ธ๐Ÿ˜ฎ

Conservative talk show host Candace Owens and Ben Shapiro have ended their alliance due to disagreements over Israel's military campaign in Gaza. The split highlights the division within the right-wing media landscape over Israel and Gaza. Owens, who has previously made and endorsed comments rooted in anti-Semitic stereotypes, has condemned Israel's actions and called it a "genocide." This puts her at odds with Shapiro, who has staunchly defended Israel's military campaign. The breakdown of their alliance shows that the debates over Israel and Gaza are not limited to left-leaning institutions but have also affected the conservative commentariat. Owens' opposition to Israel has aligned her with far-right outliers who criticize Israel's conduct, using similar language as the pro-Palestinian left. โš”๏ธ๐Ÿ‡ฎ๐Ÿ‡ฑโœก๏ธ

Owens' comments have drawn criticism from various conservative institutions and Jewish figures, accusing her of antisemitism. The Anti-Defamation League condemned her association with white supremacist Nick Fuentes, who praised her for being "in a full-fledged war against the Jews." The drama has escalated with Rabbi Shmuley Boteach donning a controversial costume representing an "antisemitic caricature" and Owens hitting back at the accusations. The split between Owens and Shapiro demonstrates that even the right-wing media landscape is not immune to the debates surrounding Israel and Gaza. ๐ŸคโŒ๐Ÿ’”
